Seena Donneson The theme running through my work has to do with "fragments lost in time" reflecting various natural phenomenon. Although non-representational, the symbolism in these pieces refers to the decay as well as the rebirth taking place in our fast changing high-tech society. They also deal with survival… a reminder of our human history. Seena Donneson |
AES Gallery Gallery is pleased to exhibit the work of Ms. Seena Donneson. From her studio in Manhattan, Seena Donneson has established a volume of work ranging from intimate tactile jewelry pieces to monumental constructions. The majority of this exhibition is comprised of Seena's handmade paper structures that are fortified with a wax backing and carefully transported to Modern Art Foundry for direct casting. Each work is absolutely unique. The undulating textured surfaces, bringing both depth and strength but also sharing a sense of the vulnerability within the world we live. At varying sizes their presence echoes the visual power of ancient cave drawings and the primitive artifacts found in African tribal areas and North and South American Indian dwellings. Seena attended Pratt Institute, NY, Pratt Graphic, NY, and the Arts Students League, NY. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and are held in numerous private and public collections. |
